Kim Furlong, Director, Federal Government Affairs
Kim Furlong joined Amgen Canada as Director, Federal Government Affairs in 2008. In her previous role, she held the position of Vice President Federal Government Relations for the Retail Council of Canada.

Before entering the private sector, she occupied the position of Director of Communications to the Foreign Affairs Minister, the Hon. Pierre S. Pettigrew. Prior to joining Minister Pettigrew’s office, she spent two years advising the Honorable James. S. Peterson, then International Trade Minister on trade policy issues such as aerospace, intellectual property, and emerging markets, namely India.

Ms. Furlong began her career in the public service by contracting her services to the Government of Canada in the field of communications. She was a member of the communication division of G8 Summit Office in Kananaskis and was a member of the crisis communication team that handled the initial BSE outbreak in Canada. Her work and that of her team was recognized and awarded the Head of the Public Service Award.

Actively engaged, Furlong is a member of Equal Voice, a multi-partisan action committee devoted to the still-bold idea that more women must be elected to every level of government in Canada. Ms. Furlong is the President of the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs Alumni Association where she received a Masters degree in Trade Policy and Global Finance. She is also an alumni of McGill University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in American history.

Mo Amin, PhD, Director, Health Economics and Payer Planning
Mo Amin is currently leading the Health Economics and Payer Planning team at Amgen Canada. Prior to joining Amgen, he was Director of Health Economics, Pricing and Reimbursement at Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceuticals in the US and Canada.

From 2002 to 2004, Mo worked at the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health as Pharmacoeconomic Advisor to the Common Drug Review (CDR). In the past, he worked for the National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence (NICE) in the UK.

Mo received his Ph.D. in Health Economics and Epidemiology from the London School of Economics and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in the UK. He held several MRC/CIHR research grants in Canada and the UK, and has authored in over 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications. In July 2003, the University of Ottawa appointed him as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medicine. Concurrently, he held an Affiliate Investigator status with the Ottawa Health Research Institute at the Ottawa Hospital.
