Harlon has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Waterloo when he was young and didn’t have a clue what he wanted to do. He returned to education later in life to start a a B.Sc. in Zoology but instead but the Master’s of Forest Conservation both from the University of Toronto. Advocating for an equitable patient focused health care system at all levels is Harlon’s passion, the people he meets along the way make it fun. Walking through the forest is his source of peace. Harlon has been on the Board of Directors of the Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange and the Canadian Treatment Action Council. He currently stands as an independent member of the Best Medicines Coalition. Harlon was appointed patient member to the Ontario Ministry of Health’s Committee to Evaluate Drugs (CED) in 2007 where his role is to bring patient values and preferences to the decision making process on drug reimbursement so that the patient voice is considered evidence along with clinical and economic data. He also thinks that a dog is a man’s best friend.
